McKenzie's top bday presents

McKenzie was so excited to open her gifts on her birthday. She opened one from her grandparents first. It was hilarious b/c when she opened the box they mailed it in, she pulled out the comics they had used as wrapping paper and thought that was her gift. She was pretty bummed when she saw that there was a hole in her "present." We urged her to keep looking in the box. She perked up quite a bit when she saw the real gift.
She also got a bike for her birthday (and as a reward for learning how to ride a bike, period). She was so excited about it until she crashed later that afternoon. Now she won't touch it b/c she says it's too wobbly. We're going to have to figure out some way to get her back on it.

Megan and the boys

Here are some pictures of Megan and the boys. A friend brought over 2 mini-loaves of banana bread after I'd had a particularly bad afternoon. Thomas insisted that the bread should absolutely not be sliced. Finally, I just gave him the loaf and let him have at it. Mason was content with slices from the other loaf. Crazy kids.

Megan is a happy camper. Some nights she keeps us up, but most of the time she rewards us with lots of happy smiles and singing. She likes the sound of her voice. She found her feet a few weeks ago and loves to grab them. Last Wednesday (7/25) she rolled over from back to front for the first time. We hadn't put her on the floor much until recently. She's growing so fast and developing new skills every day.

McKenzie's 6th Birthday Party

McKenzie's birthday party was postponed twice, so when we finally had her party on Tuesday, she didn't believe it for a while. She was pretty grumpy and didn't snap out of it until I showed her her birthday cake. She said, "You mean I really am having a birthday party?!" She picked this cake out of a recent Parenting magazine issue. I was pretty proud of myself once I had it finished -- at 12:30am.
Our friends let us borrow their waterslide, which saved the day as far as party entertainment. The kids had a blast on it. They also enjoyed filling our kiddie pool with water from the pool part of the slide using buckets and bins. Thomas stood by the water spigot most of the time turning the water on and off. I should have included a picture of him. But I thought the one with him throwing a water balloon was funnier.
